Jonah is in the belly of the fish.  No more sleeping prophet or scrambling sailors.  “Out of the heart flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).”    He may be deep in the sea, but he has not escaped the presence of the Lord!

Pastor Michael Payne; Jonah goes for the deep dive this week.  He literally becomes the ‘scapegoat’ for the sailors and their ship.  Jonah’s “death” in the deep also looks forward in redemptive history, finding its ultimate meaning in the death of Jesus Christ.
